Goodbye Splinder Blog Site

Student, Alums, and Friends,

I have been notified by the blog service I have been using since 2002 Splinder (once named MoTime) is closing down. I have backed up all of the archives for the CMDC program and the Electronic Literature sites that I have been maintaining and plan to move everything to our own Word Press blog. Splinder shuts down officially on January 31, but I plan to have us moved long before then. Once I get the new site up, I will make the link work from the CMDC website and from all other websites I manage.

It is always sad to see a community disappear, and certainly this one that I have been part of for such a long time is no exception. I began blogging and teaching with blogs while teaching at Texas Woman's University. My students at the time were intrigued with publishing for a global audience and were always excited to receive a comment on one of their posts from someone far away that they did not know. It was, at the time, a new concept.

Blogging, thanks to close to 10 years of political use, has morphed into a traditional mode of communicating one's perspectives to a larger audience. Videoblogs were highlighted on television in the first season of Treme, so common they have become in our everyday lives.

Anyway, a special thanks to all of the MoTime-Splinder administrators and members of the community for making these 10 years of blogging possible. I appreciate your time and effort.
